Condolences

Condolence From: Andrew Kokelj
Condolence: My deepest condolences to the Shanahan family. Don was one the best hockey coaches I ever had. He took a bunch of leftover players to the high school junior finals in 1973, by implementing some unorthodox methods (to compensate for the lack of skill) and with a mischievousness twinkle in his eye, created a team I was proud to be a part of. Coach Shanahan showed us that there was always a way to get things done no matter what anyone thought. A fierce competitor on the ice and a gentle soul within. I will always remember you.

Condolence: My condolences to the entire Shanahan family. I just found out about Don's passing late yesterday. At SMC he was my favourite teacher ( 1976 ) and a few of us still laugh about things when we are at the Galway Arms remembering "the old days". I still recall Don marking one of my tests and saying that I need to do " a saliva test". I didn't have a clue what that meant :o):o)...R.I.P. Mr. Shanahan.

Condolence: It will not be the same at Presqu'ile without Don coming in. I relied on him to let me know how things looked in the park, what birds were around and to help me with a number of monitoring activities, particularly shorebirds. I regret not having spent more time in the field with him but am glad to have known him. The park lost a great friend, the family's loss is so much greater. My sympathies go out to you all.

Condolence: My condolence's to the entire Shanahan family on the passing of Don. Like a lot of St. Mikes guys who had the pleasure of being taught by him, I have nothing but fond memories of my time spent in his Biology Class. A few of us got together on Friday to tell "Shanny" stories and have a toast to the best teacher we ever had.
