A Trusted Legacy, A New Chapter — Now Part of Rushnell Funeral Homes
Originally established as Walker’s Funeral Home, the business has served Port Hope since at least 1917. It later became Jex and Smith Funeral Home and Furniture before relocating to its current site in the late 1950s. In 1965, Don Allison purchased the business and renamed it Allison Funeral Home.
Following Don’s passing in 1988, his sons Scott and Kevin—both licensed funeral directors since 1978—continued the family’s tradition of care. Deeply rooted in the community, the Allison family maintained strong ties to local churches and schools.
In 2025, the funeral home was renamed to reflect the shared values of Rushnell Funeral Homes. Though the name has changed, the commitment to compassionate, community-focused service remains as strong as ever.
