The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Eric Barclay can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence From: Mike & Linda Winter
Condolence: We are so saddened to hear of Eric’ passing. I became friends with Eric while we were teaching at Sir Robert Borden Secondary School. We shared a passion for skiing and after several discussions we decided to form a travel company, Spokes n’ Boards, which would offer skiing and biking trips to enthusiastic Ottawans. My wife, Linda and I have fond memories of very exciting ski trips organized by Eric & Diane for the RA Club in 1970’s & early 80’s. These weekend ski trips to the major eastern USA Mountains were a wonderful opportunity for our young family of three sons to test their skills on the “big” slopes and also were big hit for many government employees. Eric’s trips were very popular & well organized; he took great pride in providing memorable experiences.
We send our sincere condolences to Eric’s family and friends and wish that we could have been with you to share our memories in person.

Condolence: I remember very well Eric Barclay as our home room teacher and an excellent chemistry teacher in high school, grade 10. We learned all about valence, and learned to write equations of chemical processes. He had an engaging personality and was very well liked by all students. My condolences to Eric's family.

Condolence From: Susan Clark and Dan DesRoches
Condolence: Dear Diana, Ryan, Brooke and families,
I have been trying to find the right words to accurately express how much Eric impacted so many lives. He was a mathematician by trade but so much more in his personal life. He was a great dad and grandpa, a brother-in-law and friend to me. He took charge when a problem arose, a kind and a caring and a heck of a skier!! He was a man I feel blessed to have known and am proud to say is part of our family.
We will be thinking of you all in the very difficult days and weeks ahead. Love Susan & Dan
