The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Derek Plane can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence: My deepest sympathies to all of Derek families and friends, during this difficult time.

I coached Derek in ice hockey during his bantam year. I remember a young man with a big heart and a never give up attitude. It was a pleasure to coach and know Derek during that time in his life.

Rest in peace Derek.

Condolence: Dear Plane and Petro families: There are no words to express how sorry we are for your loss. No parent should ever have to bury a child. I have been thinking a lot about young Derek and I think this grey wet day in Calgary is the perfect time to snuggle up and watch his favourite movie from way back....Youngblood. Lost but not forgotten.
