CHAMBERS, Gary-
Long-time resident of Thurlow Township, passed away at Hastings Manor , Belleville on Saturday, February 3rd, 2018 at the age of 77. Gary was the oldest son of Clarence and Evelyn Chambers (McEvoy). He is survived by Dawn, his loving partner of 52 years. Proud father of Colleen Henry (Paul) and Craig Chambers. Adoring grandfather of Madeleine and Lauren. Dear brother of Glen (Marlean) and Dave (Christine), step-brother of Susan Raney (Bill), Mary Squire (Terry) and step brother-in-law of Heather McEvoy. Predeceased by father Clarence Chambers, step-father Gerrard McEvoy, step-brother Paul McEvoy and step-sister Catharine McEvoy-Hatcher. Remembered by his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Queen's University, Gary enjoyed a teaching career in Mathematics at Quinte Secondary School, Belleville until his retirement. He was an active member of St. Mark's United Church, Cannifton. He filled his time with many hobbies including gardening, camping, woodworking, canoeing, oil painting, travelling and attending music and theatre events.
The family is grateful to Dr. Goddard-Hill, Dr. Reid and the staff at Hastings Manor, especially the staff of Beech Villa, for their compassionate care.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the BELLEVILLE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL LTD. 68 N. Front St. Belleville (613-968-5080) on Friday, February 16th, 2018 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Mark's United Church, Cannifton on Saturday, February 17th, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. , with visitation beginning at 12 noon. Rev. Ryan McNally officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at the Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends are invited to consider a donation to The Nature Conservancy of Canada, United Church of Canada Mission and Service, or a charity of your choice.
