Accomplishments of my Dad

Earl joined the RCAF/CAF in January 1953 and served until December 1991. He served across Canada, Europe, Egypt and the Belgian Congo. In 1988, he received the RCAF Association "Airman of the year". This award recognized his years of dedicated service which focused on the betterment of the Canadian Forces, dedication to his role in aerospace engineering and his work in the local community. The award also gave recognition to his leadership and efforts into creating the RCAF Memorial Museum and for preserving the heritage of the Air Force. Earl helped found the museum and maintained it while he was still an active member. He became the full time curator upon his retirement in 1991 to 1998. In 1995, he received a letter informing him that he was selected to receive the distinction of Officer of the Sovereign Order of St.Stanislas. This distinction was in recognition for his work in helping to preserve aviation history. On February 17, 1996, he was knighted by His Serene Highness Prince Juliusz Nowina Sokolnicki of Poland where he received the medal and certificate honouring his devotion to cultural and humanitarian matters. Earl was very engaged in his community. He served for many years as a Lion and also past president; Sunday School Superintendent and teacher; Frankford councillor 1981-1982 and Frankford Reeve from 1986-1994. Earl was actively involved with the Batawa Ski Hill from its beginning and for several years after. Through his work with the Quinte Veterans Association and fundraising, he was able to establish an annual Quinte Veterans Association Bursary for students at Loyalist College who have an affiliation with a cadet core or relative of a former war veteran. This bursary is still ongoing. Earl was a loving family man who deeply cared for his community and was proud of his Canadian Military heritage. He will be missed by all and never forgotten
