Obituary for Mary Eleanor Valchar (Scott)

Mary Eleanor Valchar (Scott)
VALCHAR, Mary Eleanor (Scott) August 22, 1924 - October 10, 2015
It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother. She was surrounded by her daughters and the caring staff of Campbellford Memorial Hospital. Mary was the daughter of the late Mr. Ross Bernard Scott and Leone (Dayton) of Picton, Ontario. Sister of the late Shirley Reid (Scott) of Stirling. Predeceased by the "love of her life", her husband Josef Valchar of Jaseena, Czech Republic, a known Bata Shoe pioneer, trained by Thomas Bata Jr. He was a cofounder of Elaine Footwear in Stirling. A loving mother of the late Dr. Jan S. Valchar of Belleville (Elizabeth), Kathryn Albers (Dave) of Ottawa, JoAnne Follett (Gord) of Calgary and Stephen Valchar (Gloria) of Trenton. A very proud grandmother to Kyle Follett (Abby ), Kaelyn Follett, Lauryn Albers, Josh and Teila Valchar. Mom was an incredible and dignified woman, our best friend, supportive wife, a mentor to many - she succeeded on all counts. She had time for everyone, family or stranger, that needed her just to listen. Her real passion were babies family or not. Her code to live by, take one day at a time, take care of yourself and help those who need it without expecting anything in return. We are sure, many are going to miss having a cup of coffee or a game of cards with her at the table by the kitchen window. Graveside service 1pm Friday, October 16 at the Stirling Cemetery. Donations to the Salvation Army or the Belleville Hospital Oncology Department. Arrangements entrusted to the STIRLING FUNERAL CHAPEL 87 James Street, Stirling (613-395-2424).
