Obituary for Mervin Thomas Sanders
SANDERS, Mervin Thomas of Waubaushene formerly of Belleville. With great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved father peacefully at home, January 6th, 2023 in his 93rd year. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Barbara Joan Sanders (nee MacDonald) of Belleville. Beloved Son of the late Thomas and Ella (Hubble) Sanders. Predeceased by his loving brother Reg Sanders. Loving father of Leslie Hadley (Ray) of Belleville, Mark Sanders (Kimberley) of Barrie, and Louise Sanders (Steve) of Waubaushene.
Mervin was the proud grandfather to Selena, Jenny, Joel, Mark, Laura, Rachael, Bradley and Chloe, and an equally proud great grandfather to ten great grandchildren.
Merv will be forever remembered as a hardworking family man and a loyal friend to many. Merv was born in Buffalo, New York and moved to Canada as a young child. He was a proud business owner of Sanders Fuel. Throughout his life in Bellville, he heated many homes. Many of his customers became lifelong friends. We used to joke that there wasn’t a place in Bellville where someone didn’t know him.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Often telling stories about his adventures in the woods. At a young age he
hitchhiked to Calgary from Trenton and continued his adventures throughout his life. During his summers off, he
enjoyed travelling in his trillium trailer with his beloved wife Barbara.
He will be dearly missed by his children, friends and family.
